Humility, Religion, and the Media
Pastor Kim's Blog
Friday, 21 October 2011 14:43

You may ask, how does the media, religion, and humility have anything to do with each other? God wants us to be well established and rooted in His word and His ways. It is God’s plan for His church to uphold His word. First and foremost, that takes humility. Laying down your plans, and your ambitions doesn’t necessarily come that easy. We all know the people of God are not perfect, but we have the liberty of God's word to set us free and to preach to others.

James 1:25-27, tells us,
“But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

There is a move in the media industry. The tongue is not bridled, hearts are deceived, and purity has ceased. We as    Christians can embrace it, uphold it, tolerate it, or move after God’s plan and design through the church. We cannot  look into the ‘perfect law of liberty’, (God’s word and His way of doing things) and ignore what we see or especially what He has defined as right and wrong. To be brave enough to live humbly and walk away from secularism and humanism is a must. If we live as Christians, we must come to terms that now is the time to realize that the media industry is a platform that preaches its message to everyone. This includes the family, the individual, as well as the ‘fatherless and widows in their affliction’.

It is time that we uphold God’s truth and not tolerate another Gospel for our entertainment needs. Especially the needs of our children. I can boldly say it is time to put our actions, our money, and our passion behind ‘doing the work’ of God's perfect law of liberty and to embrace His way of doing things. As Christians, it is time to embrace and propel God's word through the media industry He is raising up through His church and not through secular society!! In Christ there is much more and if we as Christians embrace another gospel, we are deceiving ourselves. We are in a season for change and revival. It is time to be 'unspotted from the world' which includes the philosophies they embrace and preach. To live fully persuaded in God's word and God's way of doing things will pay off by 'life' and the 'blessing' of God, abundance and His purpose and design. Step in and step out. The river of God's word runs deep! His way of doing things brings the kingdom blessing to not only you but your family.

The world has made Christianity and religion into the perspective of "do's and dont's." Yes, there are the things that followers of Jesus don't do.Why do Christians not drink or smoke or even agree with harry potter? Is it because we don't like having fun? No, its because it keeps us from walking in the plan God has fully intended for us and others.

You see the word, "Religion," has created morals and "do's and dont's" but Christ has freed us from the law and unrighteousness through the love He has for us. Yes, Christians mess up and don't fully live up to their full purpose, and even become hypocrites. Does that make them "less" than other believers? No, it makes them malnutritioned in knowing the love and plan God has for them.

The Spirit Of Liberty
Pastor Rick's Blog
Tuesday, 05 July 2011 16:38
Spirit Of LibertyThis is July, the month we celebrate our independence and liberty! What a good month to talk about Liberty! John Adams and The Sons of Liberty weren't the first to come up with the idea, it was God. He wants all of His people to be liberated and experience the liberty that He has for us. And He's not just talking about liberty in the natural, nobody holding you in bondage, but He's talking about liberty in the spirit and the ability to worship Him.
Not everyone may agree on everything, but receive everyone in the name of the Lord. Don't allow yourself to get caught up arguing about meaningless things. One of my tweets from the last week was, "Endless discussion on a meaningless topic is stupidity. Stupidity discussing a meaningless topic is meaningless." The point is, God doesn't want us to get ourselves consumed in arguing in things that are not eternal, taking a stance on something that has nothing to do with salvation. He wants us to speak truth of His Word without getting entangled.
He wants you to find what your faith is attached to and live by it. Our opinions are just opinions, and if they don't line up with the Word and with love, we need to keep them to ourselves, not judging. The important thing is that God receives us. No matter who agrees with who, God receives us. Its all about where your faith is, that's how God sees it. If your faith is in it, go for it, and if its not don't put it down or complain about it. First and foremost, you need to put your faith in His word, attach to it, and then, go for it.
Think about it; we take care of what God has called us to -- our home, ministry, family, but outside of that, who are we? Its meaningless and its not our place to judge. If we judge, it becomes our issue. God says its meaningless disputes. Let's let each other be what God has called us to be. Let's rejoice together because really, it all boils down to being in a relationship with God. Wherever our faith is, we are all a work in progress and it all starts with confessing with your mouth and believing in your heart.
God wants us to live in liberty. Liberty in everything, not just the liberty of a free country. He wants us to have the freedom to worship Him within the right to worship Him. Without judgment or persecution from those who are supposed to be your brothers and sisters in Christ.
As we celebrate liberty, lets get liberated in the things of God. Lets get liberated in the spirit so that we don't just unconsciously find ourselves casting judgements on those around us because they're a little different than us. Let's be at liberty completely and totally, in every aspect in life. When we can do that, I believe we truly walk where He wants us to walk, in a spirit of love. Lets walk according to what He says.
-----
Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things. For one believes he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables. Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God has received him. Who are you to judge another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand. One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks. For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's.
